Capsule Geology

Molybdenite and minor chalcopyrite occur as scattered disseminations and as fracture fillings with and without quartz (Lomenda, 1983). Mineralization occurs in an area primarily underlain by intermediate to mafic pyroclastic and flows of the Lower Jurassic Unuk River Formation, Hazelton Group (Open File 1988-4).

In 1989, Newhawk Gold Mines and Corona Corporation completed a program consisting of grid emplacement and rock sampling over the Snowfield Gold zone to further define the zone. This led to the discovery of the Coffee Pot zone, a gold-silver bearing quartz vein system of limited size. Further details of this zone are not available.

In 2007, diamond drilling on the Coffee Pot zone yielded intercepts of up to 0.430 grams per tonne gold over 127.36 metres in hole CP-006 (Blanchflower, J.D. (2008-04-21): Technical Report on the Snowfield Property).

Refer to West (104B 193) and Snowfield (104B 178) for details of related mineralization and work history. The Coffee Pot/Xray zone(s) appears to be within the boundaries of Snowfield zone area, as recently defined by Pretium Resources (Figure 10.1, Technical Report on the Snowfield Zone for Pretium Resources Inc, March 4, 2011).
